Early in September we hosted Americans With Disabilities Act with lawyer Ed Zwilling for an ADA Q&A. More than 20 people gathered to learn more about the rights of those with disabilities. Unfortunately, we were unable to provide captions for the event due to a snafu with our Zoom account, but we are working to make sure those are available for our next event.

We’re thankful to Ed for continuing to participate in the ADA Q&As, and we’re excited to announce that the next Q&A will be Dec. 2, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. CT! This Q&A will focus on public accommodations and the ADA. Watch for more information soon, including a registration link!

In September, Adjacent Space had a team meeting to discuss the future mission of our organization and how we can best serve our local community. We gave everyone a chance to share their perspectives and are still working on focusing our efforts on initiatives that can make a lasting impact. As we work through these conversations, we will keep you all updated! If you have ideas or comments, please share them with us at info@adjacentspace.org.

This month we’re hosting another Creating Space for Equity event! In this series, we spotlight ally organizations in our community so we can learn more about their work and share ours. On Oct. 26, we will share the (Zoom) stage with Iron City Social, a marketing business that supports, empowers and educates small- to medium-size businesses in the Southeast. We’ll focus on social media marketing and accessibility, and how you can make spaces that represent your culture and identity. This event will be at 6:30 p.m. CT. and will be in American Sign Language and in spoken English. You can register at Adjacentspace.org

With September ending, Deaf Awareness Month comes to a close. However, pride in our Deaf community is eternal! We will work for you to bring communities together. We are happy to be working with all of you to create a more accessible community.

Thanks for watching! Have a great October! See you guys later.
